Description:
UGEOID2020A is a geoid model for Uganda, covering the region from 2°S to 5°N in latitude and from 29° to 36°E in longitude, with a grid resolution of 1'x1'. It is based on the 2020 airborne survey gravity data, the global geopotential model XGM2019 up to degree and order 360, terrain data from the Tandem-X satellite mission, as well as available gravity data in the surrounding countries. The computation was carried out using spherical FFT with a modified Stokes kernel, in the framework of a remove-restore procedure. The conversion from quasi-geoid to geoid was finally performed by using the linear Bouguer correction. The resulting UGEOID2020A geoid model is expected to have an accuracy between 3 and 5 cm across much of Uganda, fitting seven GNSS/levelling benchmarks with an error of 2 cm standard deviation.
