Regional Models

Finland (FIN95)

Author: M. Vermeer     Created: 1995     Resp: NLS
      Status: PUBLIC
Description:
The FIN95 geoid model extends from 54° N to 75.2° N in latitude and 15.1° E to 36.3° E in longitude with a grid resolution of 5' in latitude and 5' in longitude. The model was computed by fitting the gravimetric model BSL95A (calculated from global OSU91A model and gravity data from eight countries surrounding the Baltic Sea) to four GPS/levelling campaigns in and around Finland. It can be used to transform ellipsoidal heights in the EUREF-FIN national ETRS89 realization to orthometric heights in the Finnish N60 height system. The accuracy of the model, compared to 43 GPS/levelling points, is 6.4 cm. The largest differences between the FIN95 model and GPS/levelling are up to 20 cm (at the northern and eastern Finland).
