Description:
The FIN2000 tailored quasi-geoid model extends from 59° N to 70.7° N in latitude and 17.5° E to 33° E in longitude with a grid resolution of 1.5' in latitude and 3' in longitude. The model was computed by a fourth-degree polynomial fit of the Nordic quasi-geoid NKG96 to 159 GPS/levelling points in Finland. Although it is a quasi-geoid model, FIN2000 can be used to transform ellipsoidal heights in the EUREF-FIN national ETRS89 realization to orthometric heights in the Finnish N60 height system, since the differences between the orthometric and normal heights in Finland are considered negligible. The accuracy of the model, compared to 154 GPS/levelling points, is 3 cm. The largest differences between the FIN2000 model and GPS/levelling are 8–9 cm.
The model is officially distributed by the National Land Survey of Finland (NLS), and more information about it can be found on the NLS website (available only in Finnish).
