Description:
RAF96 is a hybrid geoid model for France. It is computed by fitting the QGF96 gravimetric quasi-geoid model to the
nationwide RGF93 network of 979 GPS/levelling points by first removing a trend and then interpolating the residuals by
collocation. Therefore the final model represents the height of the IGN69 reference surface above the GRS80 ellipsoid in
the RGF93 geodetic reference frame, which is identical to ETRF89. Its validation based on 160 independent GPS/levelling
points well distributed over France shows an overall standard deviation of 2.5 cm and a bias at the 1 cm level.
