Description:
Italian Quasi-Geoid computed at
Politecnico di Milano. The area covered
by the estimate is 35° <
lat < 48°, 5° < lon <
20° with grid spacing of 2' both
in latitude and in longitude. The
computation is based on remove-restore
technique and fast collocation; the
solution was obtained in one step only
over the whole area.
The gravimetric geoid, integrated with
GPS/levelling data, has an overall
precision of around 3 cm over the
entire Italian area.
ITALGEO05 is the official Italian geoid model and it is distributed by IGM (Italian Military Geographic Institute). Further information on the available gridded data can be found at the IGM website.
